All home and ready to...oh, wait.

The universe has a sense of humor that I still don't quite understand. We got home from our long journey with Val and Winnie on Sunday, got our wether Checkers on Monday, and it started raining on Tuesday. That was 4 days ago, and it is still raining. We've had pockets of sunshine here and there, but it's been gloomy enough that I'm worried about our brand new solar-powered fence charger. The battery is supposed to last for a month without being recharged, and I think we may end up testing that claim in its first month of use.

Two days ago we came back from dinner and Cooper and I went out to put the goats up for the night. This is what we found...

Awesome.

So yesterday we spent a great deal of money on materials to fix and then reinforce our chain link kennel so that this doesn't happen again. We also got plywood and support beams to make a shelter that will fit all 3 goats in it. My idea is to make something simple that we can add a back and sides to when winter comes. It also has to be strong though. Checkers has already been testing out our hand-me-down dog house's roof, and the only reason Val hasn't is because he's still too little to get up there. Whatever shelter we build will need to be able to support a couple hundred pounds of hoof-stomping, head-butting shenanigans.

Now if it will stop raining for 20 minutes, we can go out and start working on one of these projects!
