Winter Weather Woes

As much as I hate the cold, it is nice when the snow falls and lightly dusts everything.

And after all the rain we had last month that flooded the entire yard, the colder weather was a nice change. At least the lower temperatures keep all the mud frozen. But all things must come to an end. This week, everything thawed. And then it started raining again. And it has been at it for over a week. Somewhere in there, it stopped long enough for the goats to come out and eat some hay.

The most recent rains and the previous flooding killed virtually all of the grass in the yard and etched several new creek beds through the paddock. It is a muddy, soupy mess out there but we are making the most of it. Too muddy to walk to the hay feeder? Take the bridge! Don't feel like tramping through the swamp? A cinder block path will do the trick!

The rain is supposed to continue for I don't even know how long, so I guess I have lots more bridges to build. And in the Spring I'll have LOTS of ground to till and grass seed to spread. My fingers are crossed that the rain will end soon!
